AEEC mission statement
The Alberta Education Employees Committee works to plan bargaining strategy, public relations campaigns and lobbying efforts, as well as helping locals keep each other informed of their activities.
AEEC’S objectives include uniting school employee locals so that we can set common goals for Collective Bargaining. We work to improve wages, benefits, job security, and working conditions. We all deserve a fair wage and the ability to work in a safe environment.
This past year locals stood together to demand better wages and improved working conditions. The strike action of over two-thirds of our members broke the government mandate and all locals benefitted from their determination.
We continue to have government oversight and control over bargaining. We cannot bargain freely and fairly with our employers and the rules for wage increases remain with the government with a new mandate that is common to all locals.
By sharing our experiences and knowledge, we can help each other. AEEC promotes Coordinated Bargaining where common language and common interests can benefit all of us.
Membership is open to all chartered Local Unions of CUPE which are in the jurisdiction of the Education sector in Alberta. Affiliation fees are $0.30 per member per month, submitted quarterly. For more information about affiliation, contact the treasurer at aeec.treasurer@gmail.com
