AEEC mission statement

The Alberta Education Employees Committee works to plan bargaining strategy, public relations campaigns and lobbying efforts, as well as helping locals keep each other informed of their activities.

AEEC’S objectives include uniting school employee locals so that we can set common goals for Collective Bargaining.  We work to improve wages, benefits, job security, and working conditions.  We all deserve a fair wage and the ability to work in a safe environment.  Our campaign is based on a $2.00/hour increase, per year, over 4 years.

All education locals in Alberta are going through tough times right now, with restrictions on what we can negotiate, government oversight in bargaining with our employers, and a government mandate that prevents us from earning a living wage.

Many of us have been unable to negotiate a fair agreement and have gone to mediation.  By sharing our experiences and knowledge, we can help each other.  AEEC promotes Coordinated Bargaining where common language and common interests can benefit all of us.

Membership is open to all chartered Local Unions of CUPE which are in the jurisdiction of the Education sector in Alberta.  Affiliation fees are $0.30 per member per month, submitted quarterly.  For more information about affiliation, contact Janet Riopel at aeec.treasurer@gmail.com
